Bring back Monster Theivery Corporation
I sign a pertition to bring back Monster skill theivery!!!!
For a second i thought it would be awsome and open up a HUGE new meta-game. ANet could fix a few things and make instant cast times for NPC's that would lead to exploitation in PVP, but other than that, well... why should we not be able to steal the other teams Body Guard skill? Why should we not be able to steal Bear form from the Norn???
Bring back Simple Theivery for monster skills. And breed some new life back in the game.

It'll just lead to more broken gimmicks, trashy farms, and endless rants and complaints.

Maybe make a PvE version of it? Or make Smooth Criminal able to steal any skill, so it will stay in PvE.
For PvP, /notsigned.
For PvE it could be fun.

Because Bear Form is the racial heritage of the Norn, its built into their genetics. Making it impossible for humans to use it...

Call to the Torment (I think that's the exact name).
Now, if you copy that, do you clone yourself, or clone another enemy mob?
/notsigned
we already have overpowered pve skills, no need for stealing other mobs'.

Granted, it could be fun for certain skills like giant stomp, but monster skills are monster skills for a reason: Anet did not engineer them with human use in mind.
It would take a ton of balancing to get it to where it would be viable at all, just for 1 skill. Too much work, not enough gain.

lol I'd like to see anybody try interrupting that with Simple Thievery oO
Anyway, given that there aren't many monster only skills in PvP, that can be 'stolen'/abused, and thus may be dealt feasibly case by case (only exceptions i can think of being, claim resource, and the siege turtle skill) I would sign this, since giving us the same skills that the mobs possibly makes PvE more "balanced" than it's ever been, and makes mesmers more fun to play

you just make the overpowered monster skills instant cast with an aftercast time. that way it can not be stolen. altho Call to Torment would be fun if you could call a monster to be an ally but after the effect wore off, then the monster would become hostile. That wuold stop you from raising an army of torment to take on shiro and the lich. LOL
and yes, base defence is instant cast, so you could not run around insta-killing everyone in AB. altho... this is something i wanted to try when i got home from work. damn

hmm... your one of those ursanway people arent you...
the purpose of monster skills is for them to be used my monsters.
seeing as your character is not a monster (to my knowledge), i do not see how this would make any sense at all to be brought back.

As cool as it would be, I have to agree with everyone here.
Abbadon's Chosen
Fingers of Chaos
Spectral Agony
Some examples of why they shouldn't allow the ability to steal those skills.
Spectral Agony was cool to use in the Bonus Missions area but anything outside of there is a bit of overkill

Too damn powerful, no real way to work it into the lore. A shame too, because that was by far the coolest glitch to me.

i don't wanna see a war running around using Giant's stomp
no need for stealing monsterskills
those skills are from the monster's natural usage (see Giant stomp)

From a game mechanics point of view it is a Very Bad Idea.
From a RPG/lore point of view it doesn't make sense at all. Unlike normal skills that are either physical or magical feats monster skills are rooted in unique physiological/metaphysical properties of particular monsters. To be able to stomp like a giant you must have the mass of a giant, and the strength of a giant to move that mass (tensile strength of organic tissue undoubtedly comes into question as well).
